On the conference of the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) of the Council of Europe

On June 21-22, the Russian delegation from MGIMO-University, St. Petersburg State University, the Russian State University of Justice and the Russian Federal Chamber of Lawyers participated in the conference of the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) of the Council of Europe.

Russia has participated in HELP Programme since 2013. The programme’s aim is to support the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights, the European Social Charter and other common European legal standards at the national level by law enforcement professionals.

The conference demonstrated a growing interest in the programme in all the Council of Europe member-countries. The number of programme participants has increased from 5,000 to almost 25,000 people (of which more than 1,700 are from Russia) since 2014.

HELP open education methodology takes due account of busy schedule of lawyers and provides for numerous distance learning methods. The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, the Federal Chamber of Advocates of the Russian Federation, and the Russian State University of Justice are programme partners.
