On November 18 the European Day to Protect Children from Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse is marked and on November 20 the World Children's Day is celebrated. One of the priorities of the Russian Federation in the Council of Europe is to pretect a family and childhood. In 2013 the Russian Federation ratified the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (Lanzarote Convention). The Russian delegation takes an active part in the work of the Committee of the Parties to the Convention, which monitors how member-states implement the Convention and develops recommendations for improving the situation in this area. The Committee is currently holding a second monitoring round on the protection of children from sexual exploitation in the Internet.

Russia uses the Lanzarote Convention to improve further the methods to combat sexual crimes against minors.
